The Shunamite Foundation for Women and Children (SFWC) was birthed out of a vision to continue and expand the reach of the Women and Children Affairs Department (WACAD) under the SCM Nigeria. Since 2018, we’ve been dedicated to addressing the physical, emotional, and economic challenges faced by women and children through advocacy, empowerment, and practical support.

Core Focus Areas includes
Advocacy & Sensitization
Campaigns against gender-based violence, child labor, trafficking, FGM, and drug abuse in schools and communities.
Life Skills & Vocational Training
Skill acquisition programs in soap-making, tailoring, makeup, food processing, and tech for women and girls.
Climate Action & Environmental Stewardship
We promote a greener future through tree planting, climate education, waste upcycling, and grassroots partnerships for environmental action.
Community Empowerment Projects
Rural women economic empowerment, psychosocial support for widows, and startup kits for trained beneficiaries
Ongoing Project
Green Mind, Safe Space
The “Green Minds, Safe Spaces” project is a student-focused initiative targeted at secondary
schools in Lagos State. It aims to promote environmental sustainability through upcycling of
plastic bottles, and character reformation through anti-thuggery and anti-cultism advocacy.
The program blends eco-consciousness with civic education, to curb the twin issues of
environmental pollution and youth involvement in social vices.
Objectives
1. To promote plastic bottle upcycling as a practical environmental action within selected secondary schools.
2. To educate students on the dangers of thuggery, cultism, and youth violence, replacing such behaviours with values of leadership and responsibility.
3. To rehabilitate vulnerable students through mentorship and empowerment clubs.
4. To create model school eco clubs for sustainability and long-term environmental practices.
